About me

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapy, a degree in Social Policy and an MA in Social Work. I am also a fully qualified and accredited EMDR practitioner. I am an accredited member of the BABCP the lead organisation for CBT in the UK. I make every effort to keep my practice in line with recent developments in CBT, and have regular supervision to help maintain best practice.

I have 15 years experience as a therapist, in a wide variety of settings including the NHS and the private sector.

I have experience treating all of the following areas:

  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Work related stress
  • Interpersonal Issues
  • Depression
  • PTSD / Trauma
  • Phobias
  • Addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling, internet addictions)
  • Low self esteem
  • Eating disorders
  • Eating problems
  • Body image issues
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder

I have specific inpatient and outpatient experience with eating disorder work and this remains an area of special interest. This would include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating and other not otherwise specified eating disorders (EDNOS).

I also have significant experience with addictions having worked as an addictions therapist in Hull and East Yorkshire and in Edinburgh. CBT can be especially helpful with addictions and is the therapy of choice for most specialist addictions services.
